HISTORY – How We Got Here!!

– After practicing dentistry for eight years Dr. Logan Coffee decided there had to be a better way to isolate teeth! Dr. Coffee wanted a “Second Set of Hands” that would retract the lip, hold the mouth open, retract the tongue out of the way and hold the low volume suction in place to keep the mouth dry.

-2007 – Dr. Coffee asked his brother in law, Neal Rogers, to join him. They proceeded to the patent and design stage of production. The next step was tooling and production of a small run of products for use by Dr. Coffee and several of his fellow practitioners. Realizing that the product was very effective, they ordered 5000 more prototypes to introduce into the dental market to see what percentage of the dental community needed such a product.

– In October, 2008 at the National Dental Meeting in San Antonio, Texas the Isolation Block System was introduced to the market through distribution of three thousand prototypes to the local and international practitioners. The reception of the product was overwhelming!! Dental Hygienists were crazy about the product because they usually work without an assistant and this product made their procedures much easier. Orthodontist loved the fact that it reduced the time it took to place a set of brackets. Pediatric dentists realized that the phrase “Please Open” was no longer heard in their offices. General practitioners realized that the reduced chair time and the reduction in failures made them much more efficient. At that point they realized that there was a great demand for a product line that offered this many features. After gathering all the available feedback from the practitioners that had used the product, they went to work on tooling for the current version of the Isolation Block system. This meant the addition of the Isolation Double Block, which was demanded by the chair side bleaching practitioners.

- With the tooling complete, production and packaging began at almost the same time. Patterson Dental and Henry Schein are now on board as distributors. November, 2009, after obtaining over 30,000 units in inventory, Henry Schein and Patterson Dental sales representatives were sent their Promotional Sales Kits and distribution is now in process.
